Drum Lesson Series Pt.1 – Introduction & Base Pattern
The first part of this Drum Lesson Series where we’ll start off by learning two basic patterns that will serve as the base throughout this series. We’ll later on get into adding doubles, different paradiddles, flams, rolls, etc – and being well prepared having these base patterns down will help out incredibly much. LINK TO PDF BELOW.
The series starts off fairly easy with this lesson, where I break down the two patterns and then give you a few different ways to take it up one notch. I will always be showing different versions where one will alternate the leading hand where the other version will not. This way you can practice leading with your comfortable hand until you feel ready to move on.
The purpose of this series is to start off by going through basic patterns and a bit of muscle confusion. It will later on help giving ideas on how you can expand on basically any pattern you might come up with. It will help your technique and overall flow, and we’ll finish off by applying some of the approaches and exercises to standard reading. If you don’t know how many possibilities a few notes offers, you’ll have your mind blown by the end.
